I freely admit I don't know much about the festering morass that is politics. But I do like to see people's underhanded tricks turn back on them.

The short of those articles is that the Republicans were attempting to pass a budget that "was supposed to be a symbolic vote -- one that allowed conservative members to go on the record in support of slashing $9 trillion in spending knowing full well it would never be adopted as the official position of the House and the Republican Party." because the Democrats and a minority of Republicans would defeat it for them.
Instead, the Dems waited to vote until most of the Republicans had cast their votes, then merely voted "Present" instead of "No". Present votes do not count for or against a bill. The Republicans had to scramble a bit to get some of their guys to change their votes to No, and barely managed to get enough.
Basically, their 'symbolic vote' backfired horribly.

Not saying Dems aren't capable of the same hypocrisy, mind you. They just happened to get the leg up on their opponents this time with a clever move. Trolling, Congressional Style.

I'm interested to see how the Republicans will try to spin it.

How on earth do you have a system where you're allowed to change your vote once you see how the other guy has voted?!?

oh those Republicans....... I can totally can't wait to see Monday's episodes of the Daily Show and Colbert Report, I can just see FOX having a total hissy fit about this lol
