So I had an old tutorial I made laying around on my deviantArt and I figured I'd post it here to help the other graphics people

This sig is a little different from other ones. This is the final result:

Nice, and I think I can transfer over to Gimp.

The steps shouldn't be too different, I'm not sure how to select the pixels of a layer in Gimp though. Do you just ctrl+click the thumbnail like in PS?

Edit: Nope, I googled it, there should be a menu item in gimp called Alpha to Selection which does the same thing. (This was for step 4 btw)

Yep thats the one, I use it for creating text glow effects.
