What's Mosiac? Your link doesn't work. Not something that should happen to one so computer savvy as you...

Seriously though, even if you don't agree with his points, this bill is still a problem and needs to be fought.
Internet ignorance certainly isn't purely age based. But I believe that a majority of older people are less likely to be computer savvy. The gap is there. Especially having personally had my not unintelligent grandmother describe what a search engine does as "like magic" "How does it know what you want?" She's was around 70 at the time, I believe. Grant you, she isn't a politician.
Computers were invented in her lifetime, but not being wealthy enough to have experience with them herself at an earlier age, she just doesn't understand them. Whereas people of my generation and younger literally grew up alongside the industry. By second grade we had a computer in the school classroom, and this was in a very small town school.
And you're right. People in positions of power should know better, or at least know enough to listen to those who do. But they apparently don't. Something mentioned in the video.
Or, as you say, they might well know but aren't "allowed to" go against the wished of those who've got them bought and paid for.
As I've said a couple of times today (including in the letter to my Congressional Reps) I'm acquainted with the Citizens United ruling, and in no way agree with the idea of Corporate Personhood, or that spending money is an expression of freedom of speech. After all, if money is equivalent to speech, then no money is equivalent to no speech. "If a corporation can lobby for its interests with untold amounts of "speech" then what chance do the American people have should their interests be counter to those?" It's one of the core problems in this country, and most certainly needs to be corrected. It's part of the disease, and this bill (and the inevitable others like it, should this one be defeated) is just a symptom. But nonetheless, one that must be treated.
Now, do I really think writing my congressman is going to stop this? No. I'm not naive. But it's a start. I'm doing
something, which is more than too many can say. Maybe if we would all do something, well, it might just pile up. Maybe even begin to resemble a democracy again.
