Right which the slim doesnt do.
Its not a must. The kids play the Ps2 games and they have a ps2 in their room. But having that feature reduces fights around here.

"I was gonna play video games"

"Nu uh I was gonna play......"

"YOU PLAY IN YOUR ROOM. YOU PLAY OUT HERE. CRISIS AVERTED."

I couldn't see the problem with backward compatibility as we mostly play PS3 games anyway. But if the kids play PS1 and PS2 games Six, then I guess that's a good reason .

However, I still think too much is being made of the loss of the two USB slots. Puzzled You can buy USB hubs like:

Spoiler:

which effectively means you gain a slot.

One slot is used to plug this in, meaning you have still one slot on the console. But then you have the four slots on the hub, which add up to five slots in total. You only had four to begin with.

I bought this model for the PC and it cost €23, so I assume it would cost more or less the same in dollars. There are a wide variety of hubs available on the market and they are ideal to overcome the loss of USB slots. Wink

Thanks K

That would be a help. I don't really NEED the extra slots, but as a safety net Ive always liked them. I use a wired headset, one controller is always charging. One is already dead....blah blah blah. Just nice to have.

Just to throw in my 2 cents , I have a 'fat' PS3 and it's not backwards compatible.
I believe you need one of the older models to get that, not just a fat PS3.
A friend of mine has an older 60 GB one and it is backwards compatible, but mine's a newer one (less than 2 years old) and isn't.

If we do have a lack of responses, then I'll still play with what we have. But I'll most likely need to cut out the two larger games, KotH and Trick or Treat. If we get as few as I suspect then we'll probably only do Doppelganger, NotLD, and the 1v1 Run.

Not a problem Six, glad to help when I can.

Btw I wasn't saying you personally were making too much out of the lack of slots. I meant in general it's not as big a deal as it might seem. There is a solution.

I'm the same. I have all four of my slots used up. I have a spare controller charged up on one. Another is occupied by a spare headset. I store the console vertically, so I have it on a stand. The stand has a cool blue light that looks fantastic in the dark. It has to be plugged into a slot for the light. My fourth slot is taken up by a cooling fan. I have an extra two slots available though, as the stand has two slots built in. So I have six slots in total. I like my slots as well. Laughing

Six, you only have to apologize for things that are your fault. Unless you hatched a devious plot to destroy your own machine, then it was just something that happened. No one's fault. Don't beat yourself up over it.
